Kala took me to get a brain MRI and a CT scan this morning. We then met with the Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Clark. Dr. Clark said everything in the body looks stable, but there are a few areas of the brain that look like they are growing. He said this could be just extra brain swelling tissue, or it could actually be growing. He is setting up an appointment with Gordon Watson for an MRI spectroscopy–An MRI in which the tissue is tested to see what proteins are present. If the tissue is dead, we may need brain surgery to remove.
Dr. Clark called Dr. Watson in Salt Lake, and Dr. Watson is 96% sure its necrosis-tumor dying. The Good News is that Dr. Watson treated about 6 or seven areas, and only three remain.–One significantly larger, the second also is larger, and the third is about the same as the beginning of December. Dr. Watson also thought with steroids–I must be better about taking them– the swelling will go down. Ok, I’m on it!
